Today, I, mom and my friend Donna went to lunch at One Steep at a Thyme Tea Room which is located in the heart of Jamesburg, NJ. We drove up to this beautiful blue Victorian home, and were greeted by a kind gentleman who guided us where to park and walked us into the house. He introduced to the owner (his wife) Kathy who greeted us with a warm smile, thanked us for coming and showed us to our table.
Our server gave us a brief and interesting history of the room where we were seated. She was pleasant woman who you could tell liked her job. She smiled the entire time and made some nice small talk with the group. The greeting from everyone made you feel welcomed, important and special.
The Tea Room was eloquently decorated in an antique style decor. The restaurant atmosphere was clean, cozy, comfortable, relaxing, and soothing and you felt like you were home.
We enjoyed a 7-course tea service during a 2 hour time period. The food and tea were absolutely scrumptious and complimented each other. They have 100 different teas to choose from which are in the families of Black tea, Oolong Tea, Herbal Tea, Green tea, etc… Kathy (the owner) makes the food herself. I must say she is one hell of a cook. Again, all the food and tea was incredibly delicious.
Our experience today at One Steep at a Thyme Tea Room was delightful. From the service to the food and tea, it was an outstanding experience. If you are looking to do or try something different with a friend, spouse, group of friends, etc., go to One Steep at a Thyme. It will be an experience which will make you want to come back for more...
My daughter Kim and I spent a very delightful afternoon at One Steep At A Time. The
surroundings were a quiet time of the past. The variety of teas served was absolutely over the top. The tastings, the service offered by the establishment was 5 stars.
Upon entering a lively little town in it's own right is Jamesburg, New Jersey where a turn of the century house rests. Thus us a place where you can sit a spell and relax.
Nestled in this house is a wonderful tea room by the name if 'One Steep at a Thyme', which truly lives up to the name. Here in about a 2 hour session filled with a 7 course menu of miniature scones, sandwiches, soups & deserts you can relax and unwind. There are over 50 or so of the most delicious teas along in various categories.
My mother and I were so impressed to learn of such a place. It's almost as if a piece of time was brought to you, when times were simpler and people did not rush.
The myriad of food was so delectable as well as eye appealing. It is definitely filling and work the $29.95 per person.
We were greeted by a valet who is the husband if the owner and pleasant as they come.
The staff were so gracious that I thought I was going to get a cavity because they were do accommodating and sweet. The staff was so wonderfully spirited. I remember one of the women servers say that, it's not work if you're not stressed.
As my mother and I glanced at the room around us, we drunk in the ambience. The fresh hydrangea flowers, the court yard, the many colors that were calming and inviting.
This place though simple in idea took a lot of hard work and though they have only been here for year, I'm pretty sure they're here to stay! Whether a party, gathering, meet up, romantic little pause in life, this is the place.... And you'll be saying teas' on!
On Saturday I shared a very lovely afternoon with four of my special friends in this elegant and charming Victorian Tea Room. If you enjoy a "cuppa tea," you will not be disappointed in this little gem. The seven course High Tea left us all full and contented after two hours of being nourished and spoiled in this warm and gracious home.
Reservations are a must as the Tea Room is only opened on weekends during the afternoon or for private functions in the evenings during the week. The decor is Victorian and there is a little gift shop with everything for the tea lover.

I found this establishment to be warm, welcoming, and cozy. From the range of teas offered, to the artistry of food preparation, to the aesthetic value of the Victorian home, there is something for everyone to love here. You do not have to be a seasoned tea aficionado to enjoy the teas here, and the staff is very pleasant and knowledgeable. The home is breathtaking and the design is elegantly Victorian and at the same time country chic. It does not feel so stuffy or busy in any way. I highly recommend this teahouse to anyone who wants to learn more about the art of tea, be basked in the Victorian Era, or to just relax and have a cup extraordinary tea. This is a hidden gem in the middle of Jamesburg and must see for everyone!

Came here with a bunch of good friends / family and we all enjoyed it greatly.
The tea was outrageously good. There were so many choices (I believe it had to be over 50). Kathy was very helpful in explaining any teas we were interested in and helping us to figure out which ones would meet our taste's the best.
I tried a blueberry tea, coconut tea, black raspberry and chocolate tea, cherry tea, and a champagne berry tea. They were all great, but you have to have to try the coconut tea (It is so creamy and delicious). Each tea was so good I did not use an ounce of sugar in any of them.
As for the food, also very well done. Everything was fresh and homemade including the bread. I had a perfectly dressed winter green salad, onion soup (lovely deep flavor, perfectly salted (not too much salt like most places). The whole table loved the Quince. Which was perfectly cooked and a little layer of crunch of potatoes on the bottom.
We also had finger sandwiches of course. .. I thought it was clever that there were tea house staples like cucumber sandwiches and egg salad alongside spanakopita (spinach pie and a twist on chicken salad (sweet / savory). My absolute favorite was dessert because of the almond cheesecake. It reminded me of a traditional Italian dessert I used to have as a child (out of this world!)
The atmosphere is cute with lovely historical details... it is not showy or stuffy,
just a comfortable pretty surrounding. I am personally excited that there are tea tastings there. The teas are fresh loose leaf teas and they are very reasonably priced per cup. I am looking forward to trying more.

As a man I was not expecting to like a teahouse, but I was pleasantly surprised. I am not saying you that this is perfect hang out spot for the "guys", but it is great for couples or for a date night. Kathy is the owner, and she is the Martha Stewart of Jamesburg in a very
authentic way. The entire teahouse is excellent.
Had the most elegant and relaxing Sunday afternoon in your tea room yesterday! In addition to the absolutely DELICIOUS menu, your attention to detail and the charm of your restored early 1900's house was fantastic! I cannot wait to return - with more hats in tow! 5 star experience, ladies. Major fan!
WOW! I'll be going back, what a wonderful afternoon, with friends, great tea's, food perfect, great service. Who could ask for more.
Had a totally relaxing & enjoyable couple of hours with three wonderful friends today. Great friends, wonderful food & delicious tea who can ask for a better afternoon. Thank you to Kathy & all the ladies at One Steep At A Thyme.

The tea selection was extensive. The hostess was wonderful and welcoming, and did a great job explaining everything. The decor is quaint and relaxing. Took my mom & husband for the afternoon and left quite satisfied. Will definitely be coming back!!!

We traveled from PA to enjoy Afternoon Tea here. What a memorable and delightful experience! There was a plentitude of sweets and savories served with the various courses, a sweet cheerfulness to accommodate our group, and a wide variety of flavorful teas. Thank you, Kathy!
